Control Cable

The first step to replace a Throttle Cable is to take off the left closeout/insulator panel. The process of replacing the Throttle Cable begins by dislodging it from the accelerator pedal then using force on the cable cover tangs to feed the cable into the bulkhead. The next step involves disconnection of the Throttle Cable from its bracket position and its position on the throttle body lever. Prior to installation check that flexible components avoid moving part areas within 50 mm (2 in) except when securely mounted to avoid interference. The installation demands direct routing of the Throttle Cable through the groove of the throttle body lever and proper cable seat positioning. Position the Throttle Cable to connect with the throttle body lever and also fasten it to the Throttle Cable bracket. The cable needs to pass beneath the Brake Master Cylinder before entering the dash area where you should mount the retainer near the accelerator pedal. Connect the Throttle Cable to the accelerator pedal as the last step. Check full throttle movement by pedaling the accelerator pedal while verifying throttle movements are without resistance and automatic in opening and closing action after complete installation. Reinstall the left closeout/insulator panel.

Proceed with the installation by removing the Throttle Cable first from the Throttle Cable bracket and then from the throttle body lever. The Throttle Cable needs to pass through the groove present in the throttle body lever before achieving proper cable fixation. Thread the Throttle Cable to its necessary positions on both the throttle body lever and the Throttle Cable bracket. Cable routing should start from under the Brake Master Cylinder to pass through the dash before securing the retainer at the accelerator pedal. The last step involves fastening the Throttle Cable at the accelerator pedal. Perform a throttle position check by inspecting the full throttle range operation of the pedal followed by testing for proper binding clearance between closed and wide open positions of the throttle. Then confirm the carpet area under the pedal before installing the left closeout/insulator panel.

Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator controls pedal, ensuring there is no binding between full closed and wide open throttle, and verify that the carpet fits properly under the accelerator controls pedal.
