    Begin the Hood Cable replacement process by opening the hood while blocking the latch to stop it from function. Remove the Hood Latch by squeezing the hood release cable retainer and disconnecting it from the Hood Latch. Then eliminate the side trim panel retainers and the Hood Latch release cable screws. Thoroughly pull out the Hood Cable handle from the front hinge pillar but keep the wire or string end inside the passenger compartment. The wire or string receives attachment to the hood release cable end to facilitate wire cable installation. A flat-blade tool should be used to pull out the grommet which will pass through the engine space into the passenger compartment where you can clean off the existing sealant substance from the instrument panel opening. Cut the hood release cable out from the instrument panel followed by removing wire or string from the hood release cable. The installation of the new Hood Cable requires tying the wire or string to it before passing the cable through the instrument panel hole while using the small flat-bladed tool to confirm complete grommet seating. Put the Hood Cable ball in its appropriate place first on the handle and then on the hinge pillar. To complete the installation of the Hood Cable secure its screws at 3 n.m (27 lb in) torque and put back the side trim panel retainers.
