How to perform a front Brake Calipers overhaul on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer
    A:
To work on front Brake Calipers you need a dust boot seal installer (part J 36349). First examine how much brake fluid is in the master cylinder reservoir and drain extra to reach the middle level between acceptable marks. Keep your fingers behind the piston when you apply compressed air because they could unleash at high speed during piston removal from the caliper. Compressed air helps push the Brake Caliper Piston through the piston boot without cleaning materials. When you spot damage on the piston during examination you need to replace it immediately. Look for damage on the caliper bore and seal grooves using a small plastic or wooden tool to remove the piston seal. You should polish away minor caliper corrosion using crocus cloth but need a new brake caliper to fix severe rust damage. Check brake caliper bolt boots and bolts for damages then replace them but steer clear from polishing off corrosion. Spray denatured alcohol on all caliper parts then dry them through air filter and non-lubricated compressed air. Mount the bleeder valve then cap and put on new lubricated piston seal and boot at the caliper brake piston. Slip engine oil on the piston then place it in the caliper hole while using the boot tool to line up the dust shield (J 36349). Next add the caliper in place.
