First, disconnect the battery negative cable and apply the parking brake to replace the front floor console. Shift the transaxle shift lever to the low position, then pull front floor console trim plate (Console Front Trim Plate Replacement), then pull rubber mat from the storage compartment. Remove the bolts from the storage compartment area, the mounting bracket at the rear of the transaxle shift lever mounting bracket, and the lh and the rh front sides console. Hereafter, remove the front floor console power accessory port and cigarette lighter and disconnect wiring harness. Pull the console backward to slip the retainers out from the instrument panel, push the front edge of the shifter trim, and take the console out of the vehicle. For installation, lay down the front floor console into the vehicle, attach the electrical connectors, align it over the transaxle shifter, and move it forward into the retainers until it's home. Fasten the bolts to the forward edge of the console and tighten to 5 nm (44 lb.in), then fasten the bolts on the rear side of the shifting lever of the transaxle to the mounting bracket tightening to 5 nm (44 lb in). Screw the bolts securely into the storage area, with the tension set at 5nm (44 lb.in), and replace the rubber mat into storage compartment. Replace the front floor console trim plate (Console Front Trim Plate Replacement), the power accessory port, and the cigarette lighter. Shift the movement of the transaxle shift lever into the park position, remove the parking brake, and finally, reattach the battery negative cable gettext.
