    Q:
How to replace the brake master cylinder on Cadillac STS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start replacement by detaching the Brake Fluid Level Sensor connector and brake pipes from the master cylinder. Cap open brake pipe ends with rubber material to avoid leaks and fluid contamination. Then push the brake pipe fitting ends with caps before taking off the push nut to let the air inlet panel support bracket move away. To take out the master cylinder remove both nuts from the mounting studs and take out the unit. You can also discard the reservoir at this stage. First reinstall the Brake Master Cylinder reservoir onto the master cylinder (if removed) then bench bleed and mount it to the vacuum Brake Booster. Tighten both Brake Master Cylinder mounting nuts to 25 n.m by applying 18 pound feet of force. Slowly place the air inlet panel support bracket on its mounting stud then put the push nut in place. Put the brake plugs aside and fix the brake pipes to the master cylinder while tightening the bolts at 38 n.m (28 lb ft). Connect the electrical cable to the brake fluid sensor and perform the brake bleeding process.
