    Q:
How to replace the door lock cylinder on Chevrolet Astro? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the Door Lock Cylinder replacement by taking out the interior and exterior trim panel. The periostial separation of the water deflector must be performed using a sharp bladed tool. The first step removes the access hole plug followed by disconnecting the lock rod from the Door Handle followed by nut removal from the Door Handle until the Door Handle becomes removable. Proceed with removing the lock rod from the lock cylinder together with the lock cylinder retainer prior to entirely removing the lock cylinder and gasket from the door. Before lock assembly you need to put gm p/n 12346241 or match lubricant on the lock case and cylinder keyway. After adding the Door Lock Cylinder onto the door, install the gasket then insert the retainer on the lock cylinder. Install the handle to the door and secure it with the nuts following application of 6 n.m (53 lb in) torque. After linking the Door Handle lock rod to its handle you must install the access hole plug and reattach the water deflector. To finish the task reinstall the trim panel. It is mandatory to use fresh plastic retaining clips during any process of lock rod removal.

How to replace the door lock cylinder on GMC Safari? Posted by Customer
    A:
A person must remove the trim panel before beginning the Door Lock Cylinder replacement. A sharp bladed tool must be used to separate the water deflector at its perforations. First unscrew the access hole plug and after the lock rod from the Door Handle followed by the Door Handle nuts . Move on to remove first the lock rod and Door Handle from the lock cylinder and then follow by the Door Handle and lock rod removal. Start by removing the lock cylinder retainer before pulling out the lock cylinder coupling with its gasket from inside the door. A layer of gm p/n 12346241 or an equivalent lubricant needs to be applied inside the lock case and cylinder keyway prior to assembly. Installation starts with positioning the gasket along with the lock cylinder onto the door while putting the lock cylinder retainer afterward. After reinstalling the lock rod on the lock cylinder the Door Handle can be installed to the door. Tighten the Door Handle nuts to 6 n.m (53 lb in) after securing them to their position. Install the access hole plug after you connect the Door Handle lock rod to the handle then return the water deflector to position. As a final step replace the trim panel. Plastic retainer clips must be new whenever you need to remove lock rods from the vehicle.
