    Q:
How to service and repair the brake drum on Chevrolet Prizm? Posted by Customer
    A:
Measure the brake drum diameter with a micrometer to decide between renewal or repair. Replace the drum now when the measurement passes the permitted refinish diameter. Clean the brake drum flange thoroughly using the Rotor Resurfacing Kit J 41013 set. Use the brake lathe as the manufacturer directs to surface the drum brake for optimal performance to prevent unexpected stopping. Use 120 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper to make this new braking surface non-directional. Close the process by washing the brake area with brake parts cleaner (GM P/N 12377981) or a comparable product.
