Control Module

The first step when replacing the ABS Control Module is to put the ignition switch in the off position to prevent harm to the ABS Control Module. The first step requires extraction of the air cleaner assembly from the engine compartment followed by harness connector removal from the ABS Control Module unit while wiping off all accumulated dirt and debris. It is essential to disconnect the pump motor connector from the ABS Control Module base but be aware of avoiding damage while removing the solenoid valves and seal. Start by removing the screws which attach the ABS Control Module to the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV). After that pull the ABS Control Module away from the bpmv with slight force until they separate. The bpmv requires a clean alcohol treatment using a fresh rag prior to ABS Control Module installation. Start with the ABS Control Module attachment to the bpmv by inserting six screws followed by tightening the top four screws to 5 n.m (44 lb in) in an x pattern while the bottom two screws receive the same torque of 5 n.m (44 lb in). First reconnect the bottom ABS Control Module pump motor connector followed by the ABS Control Module electrical harness connector at its top and install the air cleaner assembly. Installation of a new ABS Control Module requires programming according to the process. To complete the check first place the ignition switch at run position without starting the engine.

Start the ABS Control Module replacement process by putting the ignition switch to off to avoid harm to ABS Control Module/ebtcm. The first step of this procedure requires removal of the air cleaner assembly from inside the engine compartment. Becoming to the replacement procedure requires first reversing the connection of the ABS Control Module harness connector before wiping away accumulated dirt from the connector assembly. The ABS Control Module pump motor connector must be detached from its bottom location and attention must be given to the seal and solenoid valves to prevent damage while the connector is removed. Unfasten all ABS Control Module screws which attach the ABS Control Module to the bpmv before pulling ABS Control Module away from bpmv to achieve separation. The bpmv surface needs alcohol cleaning using a clean rag for preparation followed by placing the ABS Control Module on the bpmv. You should use an x pattern to tighten the ABS Control Module to the bpmv through application of 5 n.m (44 lb in) torque on top screws while bottom screws require the same level of torque. The bottom ABS Control Module end requires the pump motor connection before installing the electrical harness connector to its opening. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly. New abs control modules installed in this system need a programming process. Put the ignition switch to run mode without engine startup then execute the diagnostic system check.

Disconnect it at the bottom of the EBCM, taking care not to damage the seal or solenoid valves.

Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position without starting the engine and perform the diagnostic system check.
