    Q:
How to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on Cadillac SRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the Engine Control Module (ECM) replacement procedure only when you disable the ignition to prevent any damage that could occur. Use a scan tool to recover the present engine oil lifetime percentage and automatic transmission fluid lifetime percentage and record them since failure to program these values into the new module will set the percentages to their default values resulting in required oil change at 5000 km (3,000 mi) and transmission fluid change at 83000 km (50,000 mi). A dvom should be utilized to measure the ecm/tcm/ign Fuse and tcm/batt Fuse at the underhood Fuse block for main relay circuit voltage verification and finding zero voltage. Remove first the tcm/batt and ecm/tcm/ign fuses from the underhood Fuse block before disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. The ecm extraction starts by unlocking and removing its bracket while disconnecting rear and front engine harness connectors. The process of ecm bracket replacement requires users to press on locking tabs first. Place the new ecm bracket onto position before installing while making sure it locks into place through its tabs. After bracket installation place the ecm onto its mounting point while ensuring that all locking tabs have secured properly. Install the ecm/tcm/ign and tcm/batt fuses back into the underhood Fuse block while reattaching rear and front engine wiring harness electrical connectors to the ecm. After programming the ecm the negative Battery Cable goes back on and the off position of the ignition needs to be maintained for minimum 5 seconds before moving forward.
