    Q:
How to replace the evaporator core on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer
    A:
A replacement of the Evaporator core begins with unmounting the hvac module assembly followed by removal of air inlet housing screws and air inlet housing itself. You must first unscrew and detach the right side hvac module assembly mounting bracket screws together with the bracket before removing the hvac module upper retaining screw placed underneath the right side bracket. The first step requires removing the sound barrier seal from the dash panel before you proceed to remove the screws that secure the heater outlet duct and the duct itself. The first step is to remove both cover screws followed by the core cover while next is to take out the pipe retaining screw and the Heater Core. You first need to remove the low hvac module assembly retaining screw beneath the Heater Core before you can disconnect all lower hvac retaining screws in order to split the upper and lower hvac module sections. The Evaporator core extraction from the upper hvac module case half requires removal of both Evaporator temperature sensor and txv mounting screws before extracting the txv from the Evaporator core. To install while adding the specific pag oil amount to the new Evaporator core first, mount new sealing washers onto the Evaporator line followed by attaching the txv to the core using tightened mounting screws set to 3.2 n.m (28 lb in). Fasten the Evaporator temperature sensor 3.5 cm (1.4 in) away from the side and 5.0 cm (2.0 in) from the bottom corner of the Evaporator core before mounting it in the same place as the previous core. Insert the Evaporator core into its upper hvac module case mount by aligning sensor wires to maintain open flow while placing them through the case opening. Install the upper module case onto the lower module case before you fasten all lower hvac module retaining screws to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in) torque and the lower hvac module retaining screw to exactly that same torque. The next step involves Heater Core installation while tightening the pipe retaining screw to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). The handler core cover must be installed afterward with screws that receive a torque setting of 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). Begin by attaching the heater outlet duct through its screws before finalizing each screw to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). Then secure the hvac module assembly both to the dash panel sound barrier seal and the hvac module upper retaining screw using 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). To finish the installation put the right side hvac module assembly mounting bracket with screws that need to be tightened at 1.8 n.m (16 lb in) before tightening the air inlet housing and its retaining screws at 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). Finally install the hvac module assembly.
