Air Filter

The passenger compartment Air Filter regulates most dust particles in vehicle air intake but requires periodic filter replacement. The filter needs to be reached by looking at the access panel which is positioned under the hood close to the passenger's side windshield. Access the driver chamber by using a proper tool unless your vehicle utilizes finger-operable tabs for cover removal. A tool (Tool Required) should be inserted behind the push pin on the inboard side of the Air Filter compartment for careful prying. Use a tool (Tool Required) to reach the Air Filter by inserting it between the filter and compartment wall from the outboard side of the compartment. Inserting the tool will flatten the pin which holds the filter in position. Use your hands to take out the Air Filter together with loose debris that is present in the compartment. The new filter needs to be inserted until you hear a click before reinstalling the push pin while snapping the cover back into position.

Begin by releasing the tabs twice to unlock the cover of the filter access area before you remove the cover. The service and repair of the cabin air filter starts by extracting the push pin retainer which resides at the HVAC filter and housing forward edge. The flat tool should fit into position at the passenger side of the HVAC filter and housing to release the retainer tab through the compartment wall at the outboard side of the vehicle. Gently remove the HVAC filter and housing assembly through the opening after which you should remove the HVAC filter from the housing.

Flex the passenger side of the HVAC filter housing to release the HVAC filter from the housing and remove it from the cowl and housing.

Use a flat bladed tool to release the retainer tab by inserting the tool between the air filter and the compartment wall on the outboard side of the vehicle.

Insert a tool between the filter and the compartment wall on the outboard side, pushing in to flatten the pin holding the filter in place.

Next, place the HVAC filter and housing into the opening in the cowl, pushing the filter housing toward the rear of the vehicle until a click is heard.

Install the push pin retainer into the forward corner of the HVAC filter housing and replace the access cover.

Finally, install the HVAC filter access cover.
