    Q:
How to replace the shock absorber on a 2WD with Z85 or ZQ8 specifications on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
The upper mounting nuts of an absorber/spring assembly need removal to replace the Shock Absorber on 2wd vehicles equipped with z85 or zq8 specifications. Support the vehicle at a height to gain access to the tire and wheel. Start by removing respectively the absorber/spring assembly bolt and nut after which the front stabilizer link follows. Take out the absorber/spring assembly from the vehicle while simultaneously avoiding damage to the Coil Springs' protective layer. The j 45400 strut spring compressor requires the absorber/spring assembly installation where the Shock Absorber should move without restriction while the spring remains compressed. Procedure: apply turning force to the spring compressor forcing screw to minimize coil spring height and detach the absorber upper retaining nut as well as bushings and washers before extracting the absorber from the assembly without spring disconnection from the j 45400. Place the absorber inside the j 45400 and position absorber bushings and washers next to the mounting bracket before tightening the retaining nut to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Put the absorber/spring assembly into the vehicle after removing it from j 45400 by tightening the bolt and nut assembly to 110 nm (81 lb ft). The installation process starts by putting the front stabilizer link on followed by the tire and wheel and then lowering the vehicle until you finish by screwing and tightening the upper mounting nuts of the absorber/spring assembly to 27 nm (20 lb ft).
