The snap ring within the gas pressure tube functions to prevent personal harm caused by the powerful gas force so always maintain it in place. Safety glasses must always be worn while centerpunching and drilling the shock absorber because puncturing the tube with the centerpiece poses risk to your safety. Begin drilling an entrance point 10 mm (0.4 inch) below the shock absorber tube bottom. Secure the shock absorber horizontally within a vise by extending its shock absorber rod fully. Use a 5mm (3/16-inch) drill bit to make a hole at the first indentation on the shock absorber while releasing gas or gas as well as oil mixture through it; catch this oil discharge with shop towels. After you drill at the bottom indentation through the centerpiece the 5 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit will release oil. Take the drilled shock absorber from the vise when you place it face-down in a drain pan while moving the rod to empty all oil from inside.

The high-pressure gas inside gas charged shock absorbers requires users to avoid removing the snap ring from the top of the tube because this action might lead to severe ejecting and cause injury to personnel. Security eyewear should be worn for shock absorber center punching and drilling operations to ensure personal safety while avoiding tube punctures. Use an indentation centerpunch to create a mark 10 mm away from the tube base. Place the shock absorber rod completely extended before securing it in a vise at the horizontal position. Drill a hole at the centerpunch point using a 5 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit while the gas along with possible gas/oil mix remains free to escape, use shop towels to capture visible oil. The drilling process requires making the first hole at the tube's middle with a centerpunch followed by using the same 5 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit at the counterpunch position while managing oil discharge with shop towels. Dismount the shock absorber from the vise and position the holes downward in a drain pan as you move the rod through the tube to extract all oil from the system.

Install the lower shock absorber bolt (N/A) and lower shock absorber nut (N/A) to the axle, tightening them to 80 Nm (60 ft. lbs.).

Attach the lower shock absorber bolt and lower shock absorber nut to the axle, tightening them to 80 Nm (60 ft. lbs.).
