    Q:
How to replace the front coil springs on Chevrolet Blazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before removing the front Coil Springs, first remove the stabilizer shaft link from lower Control Arm and shock absorber. Position the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-A) on the other side of the suitable jack and cradle the lower Control Arm bushings using the same tool. The jack will be raised to loosen the tension from the lower Control Arm pivot bolts, while the steering wheel will be turned to one side, making the steering linkage clear the lower Control Arm front pivot bolt. Afterthat, loosen the lower Control Arm pivot bolts and nuts, then loosen lower Control Arm rear pivot bolt, then free the lower Control Arm front pivot bolt. Gradually release tension in front coil spring using the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-A) and remove the lower Control Arm along with the lower ball joint and the front coil spring while applying no force to the lower Control Arm or lower ball joint. In installation, mount the front coil spring and insulators on the lower Control Arm - with the coil spring covering a part of one inspection drain hole and leaving the other hole for partially or totally exposed. Support the Control Arm with the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-A), nest the coil spring and insulator in the upper spring seat on the frame, then pry up the lower Control Arm with the same tool. Mount the low Control Arm to the frame with proper steering linkage clearance by screwing in the bolts as shown. Mount the lower Control Arm front pivot bolt and new nut and the lower Control Arm rear pivot bolt followed by a new nut. Tighten the lower Control Arm pivot bolts nuts using the front suspension loaded, tightening lower control front pivot bolt to 115 nm (85 ft. Lb) while tightening the lower control rear pivot bolt to 98 nm (72 ft. Lb). Lastly, take out the coil spring remover and installer (J 23028-A), re-mount the shock absorber and reattach the stabilizer shaft link to the lower Control Arm, then check the front wheel alignment.
