    Q:
What Tools Are Required to Service and Repair Front Coil Springs and Shock Absorber on Chevrolet Venture? Posted by Customer
    A:
These are the necessary tools for servicing and repairing the suspension strut: Service operations require Strut Rod Nut Socket (J 42991) as well as Strut Spring Compressor (J 45400). Strut Rod Nut Socket (J 42991) and Strut Spring Compressor (J 45400). Start your work by taking the strut out of the vehicle then setting it into the Strut Spring Compressor (J 45400). Compress the spring while leaving the strut to move freely and continue tightening the spring compressor forcing screw until reaching the desired coil spring compression. Use the 45 TORX (R) socket to maintain the strut shaft stability as you use the Strut Rod Nut Socket (J 42991) to remove the upper strut mount nut. The operation on the Strut Spring Compressor (J 45400) requires the user to release the compressor forcing screw to extract the upper strut mount and coil spring. To assemble the strut mount, first place the coil spring and upper strut mount onto the Strut Spring Compressor (J 45400), afterwards compress the coil spring and then install the strut to the coil spring and upper strut mount. Hook the strangulated strut shaft with a 45 TORX (R) socket while using the Strut Rod Nut Socket (J 42991) to torque the upper strut mount nut to 85 Nm (63 lb ft). The Strut Spring Compressor (J 45400) needs the strut removed before reinstalling it back into the vehicle.
