The first step for servicing or repairing the rear cross-member bushing requires using a wheel lift hoist to lift the vehicle. The vehicle requires support through its back jacking points by using utility stands to handle some of its weight. Take off the rear shock absorbers followed by disconnecting the right brake cable from its left guide loop position. Disconnect the electrical connector from the check valve of the rear differential clutch pump when working on all-wheel drive designs. Both abs wiring harnesses should be detached from frame rails before removing brake hose mounting bolts from body brackets. The alc height sensor harness connector disconnect will enable the lower position of the rear wheel lift hoist for distributing weight between utility stands. With support, pull out the Rear Crossmember mounting bolts then assist in lowering the crossmember until its front mount reaches about 114 mm (4-1/2 inches) rearward position to insert the bushing installation tool. To detach the Rear Crossmember frame mounts you need the j 45677 frame mount installer/receiver (J 45677). Mount new frame components with their voids facing forward and backward of the vehicle using the j 45677 (J 45677) tool for installation. The maintenance team should work together to position the Rear Crossmember tightly as the hoist height increases with help from the team. Follow the installation procedure to fasten the Rear Crossmember mounting bolts while tightening them to 130 nm (96 lb ft). Install the alc height sensor harness connector after beginning the process by hosting both abs wiring harnesses onto the frame rails and completing all-wheel drive requirements with the electrical connector connection to the rear differential clutch pump check valve. The right-hand park brake cable must be installed into the left guide loop while brake hose mounting bolts need to be fastened to body brackets before installing the rear shock absorbers. The process ends with checking rear suspension toe alignment followed by necessary adjustments. Reset the wheel base, release the utility stands, lower the vehicle.
