    Q:
How to service and repair the right front axle shaft on Chevrolet Tracker? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must support and then elevate the vehicle before starting right front Axle Shaft maintenance work. Begin by removing the 4 skid plate bolts when installed. Start by taking off the right front tire then continue by removing its wheel assembly followed by six bolts and the flange. The service requires removing the right drive Axle Shaft snap ring along with the right drive Axle Shaft spindle washer from the drive Axle Shaft. Locate reference marks on both mating flanges while disconnecting the left drive axle from the front Differential to mark the pinion flange yoke and Differential pinion flange. First disconnect the propeller shaft from the front Differential and after that support the front Differential while you remove the front Differential bolts. Respectively remove both vehicle components as an assembly of front Differential and right drive shaft. Handle the drive axle circlip with care because it tends to break while uninstalling. Guide the drive axle into perfect position through axle rotation while applying gentle force until it emerges about 1 mm (0.039 inch). The right drive axle extraction requires the halfshaft removal tool (J 45531) to detach it from the Differential front. First insert the right drive Axle Shaft into the Differential housing after elevating the front Differential with the right drive shaft as an assembly until position then tighten front Differential retaining bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Align the reference marks first and then attach the left drive axle to the Differential across 55 nm (41 ft. Lbs.). The drive axle retaining bolts should receive this torque. Fit the front propeller shaft reference mark against the Differential pinion flange before screwing in its retaining bolts with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) torque. Insert the drive Axle Shaft spindle washer onto the drive Axle Shaft before placing the drive Axle Shaft snap ring onto the axle's end. Sealant gm p/n 1052366 requires application to the flange area before installing the flange along with six bolts that need 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) torque setting. After lowering the vehicle, install the front tire and wheel assembly back in place.
