Throttle Body

Start by turning off ignition then extract the air cleaner intake duct before replacing the throttle body assembly. Use your fingers to pull apart connector pieces since tools such as pliers or screwdrivers will damage components. It is important to use finger pressure on both connector latches before gently pulling the wires straight back to avoid damaging the wires. Start by disconnecting the throttle body electrical connector, unlock the wiring harness conduit for positioning before removing the throttle body bolts. Extract the throttle body unit as well as its gasket with precaution. Begin by wiping off all throttle body mounting surfaces of gasket or seal remnants before you put in the throttle body alongside its NEW gasket. Tighten the throttle body bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in) torque. After installing the throttle body electrical connector and wiring harness conduit you must place the air cleaner intake duct back in position. Starting with the service of the Throttle Body, the first thing to do is to remove the air cleaner intake duct. Open throttle valve as far as it can go to check for deposits on the bore of Throttle Body, throttle valve plate. Do not immerse the Throttle Body assembly in a cleaner or use a strong solvent because it contains sensitive parts like the throttle position (TP) sensor, idle air control (IAC) valve, and sealed throttle shaft bearings that can be damaged with cleaners or solvents. In addition, do not use a wire brush or a scraper because they can damage the Throttle Body components and do not use cleaners containing methyl ethyl ketone, which may damage it also. Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate should be cleaned with a clean shop towel and top engine cleaner (GM P/N 1052626) or an equivalent product while using a parts cleaning brush if needed in order to remove heavy depositors. Last, replace the air cleaner duct.

To replace Throttle Body assembly, when handling the electronic throttle control, the components should be handled carefully to avoid damaging them, and these parts should be clean enough and not submerged in any cleaning solvents. Start by disconnecting the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector and the air intake duct and the air cleaner assembly. Then unsnaps the Throttle Body assembly's electrical connector and removes the Throttle Body parking bolts before removing the Throttle Body along with the gasket that is not to be reused. Discard the old gasket. Install a new Throttle Body gasket into the recess in the rear side of the Throttle Body with an upper an lower tabs aligned. Mount the Throttle Body assembly to the water outlet and tighten the Throttle Body bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in.) using a torque wrench. Reconnect Throttle Body assembly the electrical connector, install air intake duct, and then the air cleaner shown replacement will is reinstall the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.

After considerable miles and time, the throttle plate may become dirty behind, with deposits that normally do not pose problems but can interfere with the movement of the throttle valve in excess amounts. This service should not be done in vehicles having mileage below 80 450 km (50,000 mi). Start with removing the engine sight shield and the rear supercharger inlet duct. Use a mirror to inspect the throttle body bore and throttle body plate for deposits, taking sure to open throttle plate for thorough check. Clean the throttle body bore and throttle plate with a shop towel that has been cleaned using GM Top Engine Cleaner (P/N 1052626), AC Delco Carburetor Tune-up Conditioner (P/N X66P), or any other substance of the same kind. Last of all, install the rear supercharger inlet duct and the engine sight shield.

Reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct and then put back the fuel injector sight shield.

Carefully remove the throttle body and gasket.

Reinstall the wiring harness conduit and the throttle body electrical connector, then put back the air cleaner intake duct.

Clean the throttle body mounting surfaces to remove any gasket or seal material.

Reinstall the air cleaner intake duct, perform the throttle learn procedure, and use the scan tool to clear all DTCs.
