How to replace the alternator on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must begin by taking off the negative Battery Cable and Drive Belt before proceeding. You must raise the vehicle to a suitable height that allows access to the A/C Compressor through the wheelhouse before removing the left front wheel and left wheelhouse liner. The A/C Compressor electrical connector should be disconnected from its bracket but removal of a/c refrigerant is optional. Thankfully the A/C Compressor's upper bolt needs to stay on the compressor unit through the removal process of its mounting bolts (2, 3). The next step requires lowering the vehicle while moving the protective boot that covers the generator output bat terminal to gain access. Begin by unscrewing the generator output bat terminal nut to disconnect the generator lead from the generator before removing the generator wiring harness connector . Before removing the generator secure clearance by removing three mounting bolts and the engine lift bracket. Place the A/C Compressor in front positioning to access the generator better before removing the generator from the engine compartment. Placement of the generator should be on the engine and installation of the engine lift bracket follows next. Place generator mounting bolts and ensure sequential torque at 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install the generator output bat terminal nut by tightening it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) torque specification. Thread the protective boot over the generator output bat terminal before connecting the wiring harness connector to the generator. Lift the vehicle once again to reach the A/C Compressor and set the compressor in place on the engine before screwing in the mounting bolts (2, 3) at 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install the wheelhouse liner and front wheel on the left side before securing the compressor electrical connector to its bracket. Follow this procedure for Drive Belt installation while you lower the vehicle and reconnect the Battery Cable's negative terminal.

    Q:
How to replace the alternator on GMC Canyon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin generator replacement by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and removing the Drive Belt. Reserve vehicle elevation at just the right height to reach through the wheelhouse for A/C Compressor access before you detach both the left front wheel and left wheelhouse liner. Disconnect the A/C Compressor electrical connector from its bracket before using a wrench to remove the A/C Compressor mounting bolts (2, 3). Keep the upper mounting bolt attached to the A/C Compressor. The a/c refrigerant evacuation process is unnecessary. Knock down the vehicle height to access the protective boot which must be relocated off the generator output bat terminal. First disconnect the generator lead from the generator by removing its output bat terminal nut before separating the wiring harness connector from the generator. Clear generator removal requires removing the mounting bolts and engine lift bracket first before placing the A/C Compressor in front of the empty space. Pull out the generator from its current position on the engine. The generator installation sequence begins with positioning the generator to the engine then adding the engine lift bracket followed by torqueing the generator mounting bolts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) in a specific pattern. Steer the generator lead to its designated area before tightening the generator output bat terminal nut with a torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). After pressing the protective boot onto the generator output bat terminal the wiring harness connector must attach to the generator. Lift the vehicle once more to access the A/C Compressor and place it into the correct position for installation. Secure the mounting bolts (2 and 3) to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque. Tap the A/C Compressor electrical connector onto its bracket before fitting the left wheelhouse liner and left front wheel. Place the Drive Belt then lower the vehicle before you reinstall the battery negative cable.
