Lower Hinge, Front Passenger Side

Before replacing the rear side door hinge users must tape the door edge with masking tape to stop paint damage. The door should stay connected to its vehicle throughout the procedure. You can reach the rear door hinges through the front door door without having to open the rear door. Mark the hinge area using grease marker after cleaning it. Causation of upper hinge breakage necessitates bolt removal starting with numbers (1 and 4) from the door side before proceeding to the same sequence at the hinge pillar side. The process of removing a lower hinge begins by removing door side bolts in sequence (3, 2) followed by the bolts from the hinge pillar side in the same order until the damaged hinge is removed. The new hinge requires positioning following the alignment marks found on the hinge pillar and door side. These steps must be followed to put the lower hinge bolts into the hinge pillar side in order (3, 2) and tighten them to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). The process is completed by adding the lower hinge bolts to the door side in the same sequence and tightening them to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). You should start by putting the upper hinge bolts to the hinge pillar side according to the sequence (1, 4) then tightening them to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Proceed by doing the same to the upper hinge bolts to the door side in the same sequence and tighten them to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). To complete the installation you must first take away the support from the door before doing a proper operation check and removing the masking tape.

Install the new hinge to the door, aligning it with the marks on the hinge pillar and the door.

Remove the upper hinge bolts from the door side in the sequence (1, 4), followed by the upper hinge bolts from the hinge pillar side in the same sequence.

Open the front door, but do not open the rear door itself during the hinge replacement.

Remove the lower hinge bolts from the door side in the sequence (3, 2), then remove the lower hinge bolts from the hinge pillar side in the sequence (3, 2).

Close the rear door and inspect it for proper operation and alignment.

Remove the bolts from the front doorside hinge and then the doorside hinge itself, followed by the bolts from the bodyside hinge and the bodyside hinge.

Clean the mounting surfaces with a clean rag and mark the rear door hinge locations on each surface using a grease pencil or suitable marker.

Open the front door.

Position the doorside hinge to the bodyside hinge, install the intermediate hinge bolts to the front door hinge, and tighten them to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

Open the front door to access the rear door hinges.

Start with the broken hinge.

Install the doorside hinge bolts, also tightening them to 33 Nm (24 lb ft), remove the door support, and inspect the door for proper operation and alignment.

Remove the bolts from the front door-side hinge and take out the door-side hinge.

After removing the door support, inspect the door for proper operation and alignment.

Clean the mounting surfaces of the hinges with a clean rag and mark the front door hinge locations on each surface with a grease pencil or suitable marker.
