Fasten a fresh outside handle rod-to-lock clip at the door lock lever before inserting the external rod to ensure no slack occurs while securing the clip cover on the threaded rod. First mount the clip onto the inside handle rods before you attach the internal rods to the handle unit. The installation process ends with water deflector and trim panel replacement.

Begin by detaching the actuator from the lock assembly using the 2 TORX(R) fasteners before removering the actuator unit. Install the screws connecting the rear door lock to the rear door actuator and tighten them to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

Take out the screws securing the rear door lock actuator and detach it from the rear door lock.

Align the rear door actuator with the rear door lock and install the screws, tightening them to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

Install the lock assembly and ensure that the lock carrier has proper mounting and retention.

Disconnect the inside door lock rod.

The water deflector, the door trim panel, and inspect the operation of all related components.

Remove the liftgate lock cylinder.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the door lock actuator and remove the control rods as necessary.

Disconnect the inside door lock rod from the handle retainer clip and the manual door lock rod from the door retainer clips.

Place a new lock cylinder gasket onto the door and insert the door lock cylinder.

Install the screws for the front door lock actuator and tighten them to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

Finally, reinstall the side front door trim panel.

Position the new rear door lock actuator onto the rear door lock.

Secure it with the power door lock actuator retainers to the door lock assembly.

Take out the screws securing the front door lock to the front door lock actuator.

Install the screws connecting the rear door lock to the rear door actuator and tighten them to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

Next, detach the front door actuator from the front door lock.

Ensure that the first tooth of the gear on the actuator aligns and interlocks properly with the first tooth of the gear on the latch.

Tighten them to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

Connect the inside door lock rod to the handle retainer clip.

Install the 2 screws to secure the actuator to the latch, tightening them to 0.75 N.m (6 lb in).

Take out the bolts securing the latch actuator and remove the actuator from the liftgate.

Install the actuator to the top of the latch and secure it with the 2 screws, tightening them to 0.75 N.m (6 lb in).

Take out the 2 screws that secure the actuator to the lock.

Install the power door lock actuator retainers to the door lock assembly.
