    Q:
How to replace the rear brake line on Cadillac DTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
To begin brake hose replacement start by lifting and stabilizing the vehicle. Afterwards remove its tire and wheel assembly. Remove every speck of dirt from brake hose and pipe maintenance points before adding a fitting cap to lock in clean brake fluid. Use a flat-bladed tool to detach the brake hose retainer from the brake hose before taking off the brake hose from the brake pipe fitting. Detach the brake hose from its bracket and brake hose bolt before taking off the brake caliper bolt and brake hose itself. Get rid of the two copper gaskets on the brake hose before plugging the brake caliper intake to stop brake fluid leakage and contamination. Place new copper brake hose gaskets on the brake caliper inlet port before you install them if required. Fits the brake hose bolt together with new gaskets before placing it into the brake caliper and tightening it to 40 n.m (30 lb ft) for jl9 and 45 n.m (33 lb ft) for j55 while ensuring the brake hose remains straight without kinks during installation. Install the brake pipe first into the brake hose by removing its protective cap and tightening it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Keep the vehicle still until a proper brake pedal pressure develops because brake system air may result in lost brakes and danger to yourself. Complete the steps by draining hydraulic fluid from the brakes before installing the tire wheel unit back and lowering the vehicle.
