    Q:
How to replace the hydraulic hose for the clutch on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, the replacement process starts with removing the surge tank bolts until you can move the tank out of the way. Secure the clutch Hydraulic Hose retaining clip on the Clutch Master Cylinder then install a cap or plug to both fittings for protection against fluid loss and contamination. First disconnect the clutch Hydraulic Hose from the Clutch Master Cylinder then raise the vehicle while providing support and unclip the clutch Hydraulic Hose from the Clutch Slave Cylinder. Because check valves exist in the Clutch Slave Cylinder and lower hose end and slave cylinder fitting the hose must remain unsealed when disconnecting it this will only cause small fluid leaks. Unwind the clutch Hydraulic Hose retainer before pulling out the clutch Hydraulic Hose from the vehicle. To install the clutch Hydraulic Hose position it inside the vehicle then secure the clutch Hydraulic Hose retainer while placing the clutch Hydraulic Hose retaining clip onto the Clutch Slave Cylinder. Route the hose upward above the Clutch Slave Cylinder with no kinks or sharp bends or downward loops and make sure it avoids touching sharp or hot surfaces. Run the clutch Hydraulic Hose through the vehicle using the clutch Hydraulic Hose locating tab to match the notch on the slave cylinder hose fitting. Push the hose inside the Clutch Slave Cylinder until it creates a "click" sound then verify the fit by lightly tugging on the hose. Put the vehicle in a lowered position and secure the clutch Hydraulic Hose retaining clip to the master cylinder before attaching the hose to the master cylinder by pushing it until you hear a "click." test retention by gently tugging on the hose. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system before securing the Clutch Master Cylinder's coolant surge tank at its designated spot with surge tank bolts.
