    Q:
How to replace the front brake line on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by raising your car and using stable support stands before you can begin the replacement work. Down the wheel assembly to access the front brake. Eliminate dirt and foreign particles from both brake hoses and the brake pipe fitting. Before moving on install a plastic rubber plug over the hose brake pipe fitting to avoid brake fluid leaks and to keep the system safe. Secure the brake hose by clamping the back up wrench onto the pipe fitting connection while removing the hose from the pipe. Protect both ends by capping or plugging them without flexing the pipe bracket or unit. Open the retaining clip from the hose mount and slide the brake hose off this component. Take off the brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper assembly and unplug the brake hose from its connection. Throw away the two stuck copper brake hose gaskets from either the brake caliper or brake hose end. Fit the brake hose with newly supplied copper gaskets and the brake hose bolt before connecting them to the hose. Twist the brake hose to caliper bolt until it reaches 54 nm (40 lb ft) when securing it to the brake caliper. Position the brake hose through the bracket when releasing suspension weight while making certain there are no bends and choosing a riser site for the hose by matching the hose paint mark to the bracket opening. Put the retainer in place on to the hose fitting at the bracket followed by taking off the rubber cap or plug from the brake pipe end. Use a back up wrench to join the brake hose fitting with the brake pipe. Avoid twisting the bracket or pipe while tightening to 18 nm (13 lb ft). Hook the front wheel back into place while making sure the hose stays away from the suspension parts during turning. Move the wheel left and right; if contact happens, detach the hose until you solve the problem. Complete this process by releasing air from the hydraulic brake lines while letting the vehicle rest to normal height.
