    Q:
How to remove and reinstall the instrument cluster assembly on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting the instrument panel assembly removal process requires disconnecting the negative Battery Cable as the first step. You must drain the coolant before taking off both heater core inlet and outlet hoses. Recover the refrigeration while you remove the suction and liquid lines at the thermostatic expansion valve and discard the sealing washers. Seal all heater core pipes together with txv opening to stop any leaks from occurring. The front of dash plate bolts holding the hvac module together and the front floor console and Body Control Module must be removed. First disconnect the instrument panel to body wire harness and antenna connectors on both sides. Second remove the instrument panel insulator panels and the right along with left instrument panel outer trim panels. Third disconnect the instrument panel to body wire harness and antenna connectors on both sides. Bolt out the driver's knee bolster panel after removing the Steering Column assembly and crush bracket to front of dash plate while pushing the front seat to its maximum rear projection. Begin by removing the Brake Pedal assembly, shifter assembly then both right and left windshield pillar garnish moldings before proceeding with the instrument panel upper trim panel. Start by removing the left and right side instrument panel to body bolts before extracting the right and left floor heater ducts until you can remove the instrument panel assembly. Eliminate both the hvac drain seal and dash seal from disposal. Begin installing new hvac module drain and dash seals before putting the instrument panel assembly into the vehicle. Reinstall both floor heater ducts while making sure the right and left side instrument panel to body bolts achieve 26 nm (19 lb ft) torque. Place the instrument panel upper trim panel followed by right and left windshield pillar garnish moldings alongside the shifter assembly Brake Pedal assembly crush bracket mounted to dash plate with nuts tightened to 10 nm (89 lb in) steering column assembly and driver's knee bolster panel. Connect the instrument panel to body wire harness connectors on both sides while installing the right and left instrument panel outer trim panels and insulator panels. Install the Body Control Module and front floor console then fasten the hvac module to the mod plate bolts at torque setting 4 nm (35 lb in). You will install new sealing washers followed by the liquid line and suction hose at the txv then evacuate and charge the refrigerant system using the j 39400-a to detect and fix any related leaks. Hook up heater core inlet and outlet hoses while filling in coolant and reestablishing the battery's negative connection.
