    Q:
How to service and repair the intake manifold on Chevrolet Prizm? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of the Intake Manifold requires the operator to begin by disconnecting the Battery Cable and draining the coolant system. The service and repair of the Intake Manifold begins with disconnecting both the accelerator cable from the Throttle Body and the throttle valve (TV) cable from automatic transmission vehicles. First disconnect the iat sensor connector at the air cleaner before disconnecting the air cleaner hose from the Throttle Body and removing the air cleaner top assembly. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor connector along with the idle air control (IAC) valve connector and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor connector before removing two coolant bypass hose clamps and disconnecting the Throttle Body throttle position (TP) sensor connector idle air control (IAC) valve connector and manifold assembly (MAP) sensor connector and two coolant bypass hose clamps which are attached to the Throttle Body. To continue remove the four fuel injector connectors while removing three bolts securing the fuel injector wiring harness before disconnecting this harness from the Intake Manifold. Begin by removing the bolts from both sides of the Intake Manifold support bracket followed by complete removal of the support bracket. Meticulously disconnect the upper Radiator Hose at the radiator before removing its support bracket bolt and nut. Start by removing bolt and nut from Intake Manifold and cylinder head, then disconnect three vacuum lines at Intake Manifold and remove upper Radiator Hose support bracket. First disconnect the two injector harness support brackets before extracting the Throttle Body and Intake Manifold assembly from the cylinder head. Place the new Intake Manifold Gasket along with the Intake Manifold with the Throttle Body onto the cylinder head before securing it with three nuts and two bolts that need to be tightened to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). When installing the system start by putting the two injector harness support brackets in position then reattach the three vacuum lines and set the upper Radiator Hose support bracket. Connect the upper Radiator Hose to the radiator, install the Intake Manifold support bracket using two bolts tightened to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.)secure the three bolts (3,4) that connect the fuel injector wiring harness which requires a torque of 12.7 nm (9 ft. Lbs.). Connect the four fuel injector connectors, then reconnect the Throttle Body components: first connect the throttle position (TP) sensor then the idle air control (IAC) valve with the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor followed by clamping the two coolant bypass hoses with clamps. First install the air cleaner top assembly then attach the Throttle Body air cleaner hose and finally join its connector to the iat sensor at the air cleaner. Install the throttle valve (TV) cable and the accelerator cable as components that go to the Throttle Body. Complete cooling system refilling when necessary then connect the negative Battery Cable while torqueing the cable bolt to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.).
