    Q:
How to replace the rear door moldings on GMC Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
The tools needed to replace the GMC Utility's rear door body side molding include: Heat Gun (J 25070) together with 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Two tools will be necessary: Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Start the door molding removal process by unscrewing two bottom screws from each door's lower edge. Use the Heat Gun (J 25070) to heat the door side molding at a distance of about 152 mm (6 in) while rotating it in circular motions for 30 seconds. Apply this heat technique while carefully avoiding any contact that might scratch or chip the paint. Use a flat-bladed tool to extract the door side molding from the panel surface while pushing the molding clip back through the body panel from inside. Then remove the molding from its retainer plate. Use the 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) to remove all adhesive from the body panel and the door side molding back while cleaning the body panel with Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha. Start body panel installation by cleaning the tape contact area and drying the painted surface while preheating the panel using a heat lamp or heat gun until it reaches 21°C (70°F). Insert the horizontal upper flange of each door molding toward the center of the retainer plate until its top flange locks into the retainer's top channel. Installation requires backer removal from the door side molding front section while you press the body during alignment of molding clips with body holes. Secure in place with two screws threaded through door hem holes into lower corner bosses of the molding. Then hand-roll the door side molding onto the body to achieve proper attachment.

    Q:
How to Replace Door Moldings on the Side Door Lock Pillar (CF5) on GMC Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the garnish molding on the side door lock pillar (CF5), remove front and rear door sill trim plates, upper, and lower front seat belt anchor bolts. Next, remove the front side door lock pillar garnish molding in the motor home, while passing the seat belt through. To install, position the front side door lock pillar garnish molding back onto vehicle, feeding seat belt once again. It is necessary to abide by the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Then, install the upper and lower front seat belt anchor bolts and tighten to 70 N.m (52 lb ft), and finally, attach the front and back doors sill trim plates.
