The replacement process of the engine coolant Fan Motor begins by taking out the Fan Shroud assembly from your vehicle while keeping the Fan Blade stationary to avoid rotation. Use ge-47827 (GE-47827) for turning the Fan Motor drive plate counterclockwise against the arrow stamp while removing and discarding the Fan Blade. Alternatively, use a six-point socket to accomplish this task. Adequate tape should be applied over all access points leading to the cooling Fan Motor to protect against debris contamination. For installation, first place a center punch against each rivet that faces the motor backside followed by drilling its head out using a 6.35 mm (0.25 in) drill bit and finally taping the rivets from the Fan Shroud. Disassemble the Fan Shroud and clean the Fan Motor before eliminating taped areas that lead to the Fan Motor entrance. Position the new engine cooling Fan Motor on the Fan Shroud before inserting bolts from the front while torquing cooling Fan Motor nuts to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Heat the new Fan Blade hub in hot water exceeding 49°c (120°F) for one minute before you attach it to the Fan Motor drive plate. Users must utilize a ge-47827 (GE-47827) socket or six-point socket to safely rotate the Fan Motor drive plate until engagement and after completing the rotation of the cooling Fan Blade users should place the Fan Shroud assembly onto the vehicle.

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical sparks and keep hands and tools away from the electric fan.

Blow off any excess debris from the fan motor and remove the tape covering the entry points.
