    Q:
How to replace the rear disc brake pads on Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir before work. Remove brake fluid when the fluid is above midfield but below the highest and lowest acceptable mark. Position the vehicle on jack stands before you take out the tire and wheel unit. Use hand tools to take out the lower bolt of the brake caliper guide pin. Hold the guide pin with an open-end wrench but keep the brake caliper safe from contact to prevent brake pulsation during use. Set the brake caliper upward and place a solid wood block onto the brake pistons. Press all brake piston both clearly into its housing using the Brake Pad spreader tool or a similar tool. Take all Brake Pad components from the set including both pads and their springs but remove and discard only the old springs when replacing with new brake pads. Put new springs over both Brake Pad spots then place in inner and outer Brake Pad positions. Secure the brake caliper guide pin bolt at 27 nm (20 lb ft) while positioning the brake caliper into its installed setup. Turn off your engine and fit back the tire-wheel assembly. Press the brake pedal incrementally until it reaches 2/3 of its length and let go. Do this until the Brake Caliper Piston and pad correctly align inside the brake system. Refill the master cylinder reservoir and let the brake pads and rotors run-in.
