    Q:
How to service and repair the pressure plate and clutch drive plate on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Pressure Plate along with the clutch drive plate requires servicing which requires removing the transmission first. Start by turning the clutch cover bolts separately until spring tension eases up before you can detach the clutch cover along with its disc. Make the heavy section of the Flywheel assembly match the light side of the clutch bearing housing. Support the clutch cover to the Flywheel assembly by using the clutch alignment arbor (J 43482). Install the clutch cover to Flywheel bolts in the specified tightening sequence while torquing those bolts to 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Directly after use dispose of the clutch alignment arbor (J 43482). Handling the input shaft splines requires attention because over-applied lubricant could lead to Clutch Disc pollution which results in shudder problems. The inside diameter of the bearing must get saturn p/n 21005995 lubrication or equivalent before installing the transmission. The hydraulic system needs bleeding followed by negative Battery Cable connection.
