    Q: How to service and repair the pressure plate on Chevrolet Cobalt?
    A:
    Service and repair operations on pressure plates need the removal of the transmission as an initial step. The clutch service begins by turning the clutch cover bolts slowly until spring force reduces and subsequent removal of both the clutch cover and Clutch Disc. The installation process begins by positioning the Clutch Disc followed by the clutch cover which should be hand torqued to the Flywheel bolts with enough space to achieve alignment. Mount the clutch cover to the Flywheel assembly by using clutch alignment arbor (J 43482). Tighten the clutch cover to Flywheel bolts beginning from the specified sequence with each bolt reaching 30 nm torque (22 ft. Lbs.). Reverify torque readings using this same sequence before you uninstall the clutch alignment arbor (J 43482). The application of too much lubricant on input shaft splines should be minimized because it could result in Clutch Disc contamination that produces shudder. First apply saturn p/n 21005995 or equivalent lubricant inside the bearing. Then put the transmission in position and follow by bleeding the hydraulic system. Negative Battery Cable installation completes the process.
