    Q:
How to service and repair the pressure plate on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair operations on pressure plates need the removal of the transmission as an initial step. The clutch service begins by turning the clutch cover bolts slowly until spring force reduces and subsequent removal of both the clutch cover and Clutch Disc. The installation process begins by positioning the Clutch Disc followed by the clutch cover which should be hand torqued to the Flywheel bolts with enough space to achieve alignment. Mount the clutch cover to the Flywheel assembly by using clutch alignment arbor (J 43482). Tighten the clutch cover to Flywheel bolts beginning from the specified sequence with each bolt reaching 30 nm torque (22 ft. Lbs.). Reverify torque readings using this same sequence before you uninstall the clutch alignment arbor (J 43482). The application of too much lubricant on input shaft splines should be minimized because it could result in Clutch Disc contamination that produces shudder. First apply saturn p/n 21005995 or equivalent lubricant inside the bearing. Then put the transmission in position and follow by bleeding the hydraulic system. Negative Battery Cable installation completes the process.

    Q:
How to service and repair the pressure plate, clutch drive plate, and clutch driven plate on Chevrolet HHR? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for Pressure Plate and clutch drive plate and clutch driven plate servicing begins with transmission removal. Start by rotating the clutch cover bolts in small intervals until spring tension disappears before you can remove the clutch cover with the Clutch Disc attached. The clutch alignment arbor (J 43482) should support the clutch cover to the Flywheel assembly by matching the heavy side of the assembly with the light side of the clutch cover. You should install the clutch cover to Flywheel bolts by using the tightening sequence and torque them to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). The technician needs to take out clutch alignment arbor (J 43482) after the procedure. Any surplus lubricant on the input shaft splines should be avoided as it can lead to Clutch Disc contamination which produces unacceptable shudder. The transmission needs an installation process which includes using saturn p/n 21005995 or equivalent to lubricate the bearing's inside diameter. Bleeding the hydraulic system must be followed by the establishment of negative Battery Cable connection.

    Q:
How to service and repair the pressure plate on Chevrolet HHR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair operations for the Pressure Plate need to begin with transmission removal. The service begins with slowly loosening clutch cover bolts until spring pressure decreases before removing the clutch cover with its attached Clutch Disc. The heavy section of the Flywheel assembly should match up with the lightweight section of the clutch cover for proper installation. Clutch alignment arbor (J 43482) will support the clutch cover when it is mounted to the Flywheel assembly. The installation of clutch cover to Flywheel bolt requires a precise sequence for tightening which needs to reach 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Use the clutch alignment arbor (J 43482) once completion. The inside diameter of the bearing should get lubrication from saturn p/n 21005995 or an equivalent while avoiding excess lubricant on input shaft splines which might contaminate the Clutch Disc and lead to clutch shudder. After the transmission reinstallation process users should finalize by bleeding the hydraulic system and connecting the negative Battery Cable.
