Clear the work space from dust and dirt before working with the adhesive backing. Use a cleaning solution like flash naphtha or an isopropyl alcohol and water mix to wipe the marking area before making it completely dry. Control area temperatures at 27-41°C (80-105°F) while warming up the body and keep the item to mount at 29-32°C (80-90°F) using heat carefully. Ready the surface for application when you take off the protection. Place appliques against the body using 3-10 lb of pressure followed by 0.12 mm (0.005 in) thick clear plastic taped over the item to wet about 75 percent of the adhesive under high pressure. To mount emblems properly, apply them at the center section while using foam padding to shield them from damage.

You need to remove the upper grille baffle to replace the Radiator Grille Emblem on Chevrolet vehicles. Unscrew the flat-head screws at the back of the emblem and detach it before removing the grille emblem. Attach the emblem to the grille by placing it directly into position. Keep this information from the Fastener Notice in mind. Attach the holding nuts to their slots and fasten them at 3 N.m using torque. Reattach the grill panels at the top.

You should get ready by getting the proper tools before attempting to replace the pickup box side emblem and side rear nameplate. Using the heat gun J 25070 and the 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Before doing anything else, use tape to protect and line up the area the emblem covers. Keep the heat gun (J 25070) about 6 inches away from the pickup box and move it in a circular motion for thirty seconds. Gently use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to take off the emblem/nameplate, and use 3M(TM) P/N 07501 to get rid of all the adhesive on the emblem/nameplate and the pickup box surface. Wipe the pickup box surface with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha. If you don't see any mark for the emblem/nameplate, put tape in place as a guide. Heat the pickup box area with the heat gun (J 25070) so it reaches 70°F or more, without letting the heat touch the emblem/nameplate's adhesive. Take off the backing at the front of the emblem/nameplate and place it on the pickup box panel as you continue taking off the rest of the backing. Roll the emblem/nameplate back and forth using your hand to make sure it has adhered before you take off the surrounding tape.

The necessary replacement tools for door emblem and nameplate work include the following: Heat Gun (J 25070) combined with 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). The toolkit consists of Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). The first step is to wrap tape across the door emblem space for both protection and precise positioning. Position the Heat Gun (J 25070) 152 mm away from the emblem/nameplate during a 30-second circular motion period. Start by removing the emblem/nameplate with a round-blade plastic tool then clean up any remaining adhesive from both the door panel and the back of the emblem/nameplate using 3M(TM) Scotch Brite Molding Adhesive Remover Disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Use varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha to clean the door surface. Place tape once more in the unmarked emblem/nameplate area. Use the Heat Gun (J 25070) to warm the door surface to at least 21°C (70°F) without touching either the adhesive backing of the emblem/nameplate. Reposition the front end of the emblem/nameplate onto the door panel by removing its backing while still pulling away the backing. Hand rolling the emblem and nameplate will secure proper adhesion after which you should inspect the bonding before removing tape from around the door emblem.

Set the job by combining a Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). Put tape down before starting to shield and position the emblem spot. Press the Heat Gun (J 25070) 152 mm (6 in) from the surface while moving the tool in circles to warm up the emblem/nameplate for 30 seconds. Use a plastic tool to pull off the emblem/nameplate carefully and cleanse both its pickup cab panel surface and back with 3M(TM) adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501). VMP naptha should be used to clean the pickup cab surface. Mark the emblem/nameplate position on the surface and put tape based on these measured areas. Heat the pickup cab again using the gun to reach 21°C (70°F) without coming into contact with the emblem/adhesive side. Put the front end of the emblem/nameplate without backing onto the pickup cab panel before taking the backing off continuously. Use your hands to roll the emblem/nameplate over its surface then check if it sticks properly before removing the tape from the surrounding area.

Position the heat gun (J 25070) 152 mm (6.0 in) from the surface and heat the emblem/nameplate in a circular motion for about 30 seconds.

Press the emblem/nameplate onto the endgate panel surface while continuing to remove the backing, and hand roll the emblem/nameplate to ensure proper adhesion.

Remove the backing from the front end of the emblem/nameplate and press it onto the door panel surface while continuing to remove the backing.
