Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the emblem/nameplate on the endgate on Chevrolet Silverado 3500?
A: Cover the emblem area with tape to protect both it and the gate surface during replacement (regular model). The J25070 heat gun oriented 6.0 inches from the surface should be used for 30 seconds while circling the emblem/nameplate to create needed heat. Use a plastic tool to take out the endgate emblem/nameplate by heating it on a surface with a heat gun. Soak 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) into a cloth or use the tool to scrap away adhesive residue from the endgate panel surface and back side of emblem/nameplate. Wipe the endgate surface with VMP naptha available for varnish makers and painters. Reapply the tape to mark the space if the original placement mark was nonexistent. Heat the endgate surface using the heat gun (J 25070) at 152 mm (6.0 inch) distance until it achieves at least 21°C (70°F). Do not touch the adhesive and carefully peel off the backing from the beginning of the emblem/nameplate assembly. Apply the emblem/nameplate gently against the endgate panel as you remove the protective backing layer. Finish by rolling the this item across your hand to ensure full stickiness. Check the emblem/nameplate contact and strip the tape from the endgate emblem area.
