    Q:
How to replace the vacuum brake booster on Cadillac Eldorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start replacing the vacuum Brake Booster by putting your vehicle on a flat area, blocking its wheels, and placing the parking brake. Move the gear lever to its lowest gear position to gain entry before taking off the cross vehicle brace, Cruise Control Module, air cleaner assembly. Take the Brake Booster vacuum valve out before disconnecting the shift control cable and master cylinder from the accelerator cable and vacuum Brake Booster. Take out the secondary air injection tube combined with the left knee bolster. Detach the vacuum Brake Booster retainer once you remove the foam spacer from the Brake Pedal clevis pin. You can then disconnect the vacuum Brake Booster pushrod. Yank both vacuum Brake Booster stud nuts to remove assembly then pull vacuum Brake Booster out from its space. Replace the Brake Booster mounting gasket if it needs replacement. First place the Brake Booster mounting gasket onto the vacuum Brake Booster before putting it into the vehicle. Fix the Brake Pedal assembly to booster study nuts at 23 nm torque (17 ft lbs.) and use gm p/n 12346293 lubricant on the clevis pin before attaching the pushrod to the pedal assembly's clevis pin. Put the foam spacer and retaining clip onto the clevis pin before adding the left knee bolster below it and left closeout insulator under it. Reattach the secondary air injection system hose then connect the shift control switch to its proper location. Install the master cylinder and vacuum Brake Booster check valve before they connect to the steering column. End by joining the accelerator cable and air cleaner assembly with the Cruise Control Module before connecting the cross vehicle brace. Also set the shift lever in park position and take away the wheel stop.
