Vehicle rising and support installation comes first when replacing the propeller shaft. Use a marker to find the reference points on the propeller shaft by the transfer case flange before extracting the propeller shaft-to-transfer case flange bolts. The installation starts with marking the propeller shaft at its torque tube flange before removing the propeller shaft-to-torque tube flange bolts. Use proper vehicle support then push the propeller shaft toward the trailing wheel position for removal. When installing the propeller shaft begin by mating its rear end to the torque tube flange while keeping their reference points aligned. Before assembling the bolts apply threadlocker GM P/N United States 12345493 P/N Canada 10953488 or equivalent onto the threads. The installation of propeller shaft-to-torque tube bolts should begin manually with crescent washers positioned correctly between each bolt pair. Drive the propeller shaft toward the back of the vehicle until you can join it with the transfer case flange while maintaining proper alignment of reference marks. Both propeller shaft-to-transfer case bolts must receive a crescent washer for installation before bolting to final torque values at 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.) achieved in a cross sequence pattern. The technician should proceed with tightening the propeller shaft to torque tube bolts by following a cross sequence pattern to achieve the specified torque values. Finally, lower the vehicle.

The installation of the propeller shaft-to-torque tube bolts should be done by hand to preserve the correct positioning while positioning a crescent washer on each bolt set. Drive the propeller shaft towards the vehicle's rear while installing it to the transfer case flange to match reference marks. Users should begin installation of propeller shaft-to-transfer case bolts after placing a crescent washer on each pair before tightening the bolts in a cross pattern to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). The vehicle needs to be lowered down after the technician applies torque to the propeller shaft to torque tube bolts in a cross sequence at 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
