    How to replace the Power Steering Pump (LP1, LY7) on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer

    Start the Power Steering Pump (LP1, LY7) replacement process by placing a drain pan under the bottom of the vehicle. Start by removing the power steering pulley followed by disconnection of the power steering outlet hose from the pump and power steering pressure line. Initially detach the Power Steering Pump bracket from engine bolts and afterward eliminate the Power Steering Pump and bracket assembly. Next proceed with removing Power Steering Pump to bracket bolts before removing the pump from the bracket. Install the Power Steering Pump to bracket by securing it first then tightening the Power Steering Pump to bracket bolts at 22 nm (17 ft. Lbs.). The installation process requires mounting the Power Steering Pump and bracket assembly first and securing this setup through Power Steering Pump bracket to engine bolts that need to be tightened to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). After cleaning the material from the line and sealing it with a new component replace and fasten the power steering pressure line to pump while tightening it to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). After attaching the power steering reservoir outlet hose to the pump continue by reinstalling the power steering pulley and taking away the drain pan that was under the vehicle. Power steering system bleeding must be performed as the last step.
