Power Steering Return Hose

A replacement of the power steering pressure pipe/hose starts with placing a drain pan beneath the vehicle followed by air cleaner assembly removal. The first step includes vehicle suspension followed by removing the front air deflector. The first step requires removing the power steering pressure hose retaining nut which connects to the air conditioning compressor before lowering the vehicle. Use a pressurized Power Steering Pump to remove the power steering pressure hose from the pump. After elevating the vehicle again you can take off the pressure hose to cradle mounting bolt along with its retaining clips from the cradle. First disconnect the Power Steering Hose from the steering gear before taking away the power steering component from the vehicle. Install the pressure hose first by placing its retainers loosely into position before torqueing them down. The power steering pressure hose receives attachment to the vehicle while connecting to the power steering gear before tightening to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Place the retaining clips inside the cradle before tightening them securely on the cradle mounting bolt at 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Lower the vehicle until you hear a distinct clicking sound when installing the power steering pressure hose fitting at the Power Steering Pump. Install the power steering pressure hose retaining nut to the air conditioning compressor and tighten the hose to pump fitting with 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) while the hose to air conditioning compressor nut receives 8 nm (71 inch lbs.) and the hose to cradle bolt requires 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) and its final connection to gear requires 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Bleed the power steering system after reinstalling the front air deflector together with the air cleaner assembly then removing the drain pan.

To replace the hydraulic Clutch Hose/pipe (CTS) do the following, first, remove the bolts of the surge tank and move the tank to a side.note: take care that the shift cable manual does not come off while working on the hose; it should remain within the surge tank area. Next remove the clutch Hydraulic Hose retaining clip off the Clutch Master Cylinder and install a cap or plug to the exposed hose and Clutch Master Cylinder fittings to reduce the likely hood of fluid draining out of the hydraulics and contamination. Remove the clutch Hydraulic Hose from the Clutch Master Cylinder and lift up and support the vehicle. Remove the clutch Hydraulic Hose retaining clip from the Clutch Slave Cylinder and remove the clutch Hydraulic Hose from the Clutch Slave Cylinder, noticing the need to not plug the lower hose end or slave cylinder fitting due to the presence of check valves that will create only a small amount of fluid loss. Remove the clutch Hydraulic Hose from the car. For installation, on installing the retaining clip for clutch Hydraulic Hose into the position of the Clutch Slave Cylinder, the hose should be raised upwards above the Clutch Slave Cylinder having light bends, kinks, and a loop downwards and likewise should not be touching any sharp having looming heat potential. Install the clutch Hydraulic Hose on the vehicle with the locating tab into the notch of the slave cylinder hose fitting, push the hose into the Clutch Slave Cylinder, with a "click" heard. Gently pull on the hose ensuring retention then pull the vehicle down. Secure the clutch Hydraulic Hose retaining clip to the Clutch Master Cylinder and attach the clutch Hydraulic Hose to the Clutch Master Cylinder and pushing it in until hearing a "click" and again very gentle tugging since it ensures a proper retention. Lastly bleed the clutch hydraulic system and place the coolant surge tank in a correct position before installing surge tank bolts.

For installation, attach the clutch hydraulic hose retaining clip to the clutch slave cylinder, ensuring the hose is routed upward above the clutch slave cylinder without sharp bends, kinks, or downward loops, and that it does not contact any sharp or hot surfaces.

Connect the power steering reservoir outlet hose to the power steering reservoir and to the power steering pump.

Take off the clutch hydraulic hose retaining clip from the clutch master cylinder and cap or plug the exposed hose and clutch master cylinder fittings to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

Disconnect the power steering return hose from the power steering cooler and from the power steering gear.

Install the clutch hydraulic hose retaining clip to the clutch slave cylinder, ensuring the hose is routed upward above the clutch slave cylinder without sharp bends, kinks, or downward loops, and that it does not contact any sharp or hot surfaces.

Reinstall the front air deflector, remove the drain pan, and bleed the power steering system.
