How to replace the Power Steering Pump (LA3/LY9) on 2004 Cadillac CTS?

Place the drain pan under your vehicle before starting to remove the power steering pulley for replacing the Power Steering Pump (LA3/LY9). Detach the power steering reservoir outlet hose as well as the power steering pressure hose from the Power Steering Pump. The next step requires removing mounting bolts 1, 2 and 3 which secure the Power Steering Pump to its position before extracting the pump mechanism. The new Power Steering Pump should be positioned before installing the mounting bolts in order to achieve 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.) torque through the sequence of (1, 2, and 3). After cleaning the power steering pressure hose material you should install a new seal which must be tightened to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) when connecting it to the Power Steering Pump. Next you must connect the power steering reservoir outlet hose followed by reinstallation of the power steering pulley. Bleeding the power steering system must be done after you remove the drain pan.
