    A: Bringing a right-hand drive vehicle to power steering Rack And Pinion replacement starts with installing the steering column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) to the steering column. Lift the car suspension. Afterward install a jack stand for stability as you remove the front tires and wheels together with the front air deflector. Before disconnecting the intermediate shaft from the power steering Rack And Pinion always make certain the wheels face straight ahead while maintaining the steering column in a locked position to avoid equipment damage. First eliminate the intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt then break the connection between intermediate shaft and power steering Rack And Pinion. Remove each outer tie rod retaining nut before using the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B) to separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckles. When variable effort steering is present disconnect the electrical connector to the power steering Rack And Pinion before extracting the stabilizer shaft. Drain liquid into the positioned pan before removing the return hoses and pressure hoses from the power steering Rack And Pinion and its return hose retaining bolt. To remove the power steering Rack And Pinion you must disconnect its mounting bolts before pulling it through the right wheel opening while transferring any existing outer tie rods that need replacement. To install the new power steering Rack And Pinion use the left wheel opening and bolt it down with 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.) of torque. Tighten the power steering return hose to the steering Rack And Pinion retaining bolt at 9 nm and install the stabilizer shaft. After installing fresh seals on both power steering pressure and return lines, attach these hoses to the power steering Rack And Pinion while using a torque wrench at 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Reconnect the variable effort steering electrical connector only if available before installing the outer Tie Rod End to the steering knuckles and tightening its nuts to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the power steering Rack And Pinion intermediate shaft then add the lower pinch bolt which requires a torque of 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) or more. After reinstalling the front air deflector and tires and wheels, lower the vehicle then remove the steering column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) before bleeding the power steering system and adjusting the front toe.
