How to replace the steering wheel on 2004 Cadillac CTS?

In order to change the steering wheel one must first disable the SIR system and eliminate both the inflatable restraint and steering wheel module. The steering column electrical connector gets disconnected while you remove the retaining nut securing the steering wheel. Affix the J 1859-A Steering Wheel Puller (J 1859-A) alongside its companion tool J 42578 Steering Wheel Puller Legs (J 42578) to the steering wheel for wheel removal. When reinstalling the steering wheel attach it correctly before tightening the steering wheel retaining nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the steering column electrical connector before you install the inflator module and enable the SIR system.
