    Q:
How to replace or repair the rear compartment lid emblem/nameplate on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should shield the mounting area before fitting the rear compartment lid emblem/nameplate. Place alignment tape marks during installation. Use the Heat Gun (J 25070) to heat the emblem in a circular motion until it has been warm for 30 seconds. A plastic flat tool prevents paint damage so you can easily raise the emblem from the panel surface. Keep taped pieces on the emblem or panel and wipe both surfaces with adhesive cleaner and a lint-free cloth to clean adhesive levels. Continue with the replacement procedure if you find tape damage. Attach adhesive foam tape to the emblem backing then fit it onto its proper location. Use a matched set of 3M(TM) molding adhesive remover disks (3M(TM) P/N 07502) for body panel work or clean plastic parts with a lint-free cloth soaked in VMP naphtha or a mix of half isopropyl alcohol and water. Clean all installation space and make sure the mounting area reaches 27-41°C (80-105°F) with the Heat Gun (J 25070). Keep the emblem at around 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit during application. Clean and dry the area behind the emblem. Then place the emblem into its recessed compartment on the rear compartment lid and apply strong and even pressure across all the plate while fixing it to the surface. End the installation process by taking off the covering tape from the mounting area.

    Q:
How to replace the radiator grille emblem/nameplate on Cadillac Catera? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by taking out the front grill from your vehicle to access the radiator emblem. Unscrew the grille emblem retainer from the emblem using a thin flat blade. Warm the emblem with the Heat Gun (J 25070) by moving it in circles at least 152 mm (6 in) away to keep from destroying the emblem. A plastic flat tool should be used gently to take off or raise the grille emblem from its position. Wipe the surface using a blend of 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water or high flash naphtha. Install the emblem within temperatures that stay at or below 40°C (105°F). Warm the front grille and emblem to 26°C (80°F) using the Heat Gun J 25070. Place the front grille emblem on top of the molded wreath and crest then stick it to the grille surface. Push the grille emblem retainer onto the grille emblem to its proper position before installing the front grille components.

    Q:
How to replace the emblem/nameplate (WREATH/CREST) on Cadillac Eldorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for emblem/nameplate (WREATH/CREST) begins with the Heat Gun (J 25070) which should heat the emblem/nameplate at a distance of 152 mm (6 in). Maintain circular motion for 30 seconds while heating. After completing this step, carefully separate the emblem/nameplate from the panel using a flat-bladed plastic tool. The emblem/nameplate extraction requires careful handling using a flat-bladed plastic tool followed by full adhesive removal from panel surfaces as well as rear emblem surfaces using 3M(R) P/N 07501 or equivalent adhesive removal material. Use soap and water to clean the contaminated panel followed by complete drying. After cleaning with 3M(R) General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984 or equivalent, wipe the panel with a dilute solution of water and isopropyl alcohol using a clean lint-free cloth. Begin preparation by fastening the rear compartment lid then place masking tape to indicate an 80 mm point running from the lid bottom to the emblem center. When body temperature falls under 21°C (70°F), use the Heat Gun (J 25070) to warm the body panel. Attach a double-coated acrylic foam tape from the 3M(R) Super Automotive Attachment Tape family using either 3M(R) 06380 (white backing), 3M(R) 06377 (black backing) or 3M(R) 06382 (gray backing) while avoiding contact between your hands and the tape or the tape and dirt. Affix and press the emblem against the 80 mm line on the rear compartment lid bottom from 30 seconds while using the adhesive tape. You must ensure strong adhesion by first removing the masking tape.

    Q:
How to replace the emblem/nameplate on the 32 V Northstar engine on Cadillac DeVille? Posted by Customer
    A:
Cadillac owners needing emblem/nameplate replacements for their 32 V Northstar engine vehicles should begin by cleaning the damaged panel with a soap water solution followed by a dry cloth application. Impurities must be removed from the panel and the emblem/nameplate with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984 or a similar product before cleaning the panel with a towel and alcohol-water mixture. Apply masking tape or magnetic strip positioning marks for the emblem/nameplate area according to the following dimensions: "32 V Northstar" uses a marked area of 35 mm by 71 mm and 84.9 mm; "Cadillac" uses dimensions 35 mm x 78.1 mm x 83 mm. For the "32 V Northstar" emblem, dimension a is 35 mm, dimension b is 71 mm, and dimension c is 84.9 mm; The "32 V Northstar" emblem requires panel dimensions of 35 mm by 71 mm by 84.9 mm while the "Cadillac" emblem needs 35 mm by 78.1 mm by 83 mm dimensions. Heat the cold panel to above room temperature by using either a heat gun or heat lamp. Double-coated acrylic foam tape can be used according to the below specifications: 3M 06380 white, 3M 06377 black, or 3M 06377 gray when necessary. Install one of these tape types: 3M 06380 - white, 3M 06377 - black, or 3M 06377 - gray. The panel alignment should be completed before pressing the emblem/nameplate firmly to guarantee strong bonding. When working with Deville DHS DTS models, maintain the same introductory procedure that includes panel washing followed by drying then cleaning. Position the emblem/nameplate using masking tape or magnetic strips which measure 83.2 by 70.2 by 35 mm for the "DHS" or "DTS" symbols or 84.4 by 70.2 by 84.9 mm for the "DEVILLE" symbol. For the "DHS" or "DTS" emblem, dimension a is 83.2 mm, dimension b is 70.2 mm, and dimension c is 35 mm; The dimensions of the "DHS" or "DTS" emblem measure a=83.2mm, b=70.2mm, and c=35mm, whereas "DEVILLE" has dimensions a=84.4mm and b=70.2mm, c=84.9mm. To achieve proper adhesion of the emblem/nameplate, apply double-coated acrylic foam tape directly onto a warm panel while firmly pressing the emblem into position.

    Q:
How to repair a loose emblem or nameplate on Cadillac DeVille? Posted by Customer
    A:
Prepare a loose emblem by cleaning it with soap and water followed by a towel dry. Surface the panel and the adhesive surface of the molding using an approved solvent and a clean rag. Never peel off body tape when a molding falls free from its adhesive. Clean the molding's underside and both tape surfaces using a solvent approved for this purpose. Place your molding straight when you use straight edge or masking tape as tools. Place Loctite 414 adhesive (GM 12345093) on the molding back. Keep firm contact until the bond between parts becomes strong for 30 seconds.

    Q:
How to service and repair adhesive retained moldings, emblems, and name plates on Cadillac Eldorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need mild soap water or VM&P Naptha to maintain and fix adhesive supported moldings emblem and nameplates since strong chemicals harm exterior lamps. Body side moldings and emblems as well as name plates stick to body panels through tape attachments. A hot air source between 70-90°F (21-32°C) prepares the panel for new or old moldings which require proper installation. Remove wax and oil residue completely during cleaning. You can replace body parts using three different methods: new molding parts, new emblems, and new name tags.
