    Q:
How to replace the front Door Latch Assembly on Buick Park Avenue? Posted by Customer
    A:
Both the door trim panel and door control module and water deflector and speaker assembly must be taken out for front door latch replacement. The next step requires removing the window before disconnecting both the lock rod and outside handle rod from the Door Latch Assembly. Start by removing three fasteners from the latch assembly while taking out two fasteners from the module. Finish the process by having all other fasteners loosely attached before removing the module assembly. The Door Latch Assembly requires detaching inside Door Handle rods and lock rods from their retainers before lifting it off. To install the new door latch users need to place it on the retainer before reconnecting inside Door Handle and lock rods and securing everything by wrapping the clips. After attaching the outside Door Handle rod to its proper place on the retainer connect electrical connectors with the door latch while you begin installing fasteners into the module before placing it within the door. Insert the fasteners through the keyhole slots before securing all remaining fasteners to a torque value of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Proceed with attaching the three fasteners to the latch assembly before tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reinstall the handle and lock rods to the outside Door Handle. Major components for reinstallation include the window assembly along with speaker assembly, trim panel bracket, water deflector, door control module followed by the door trim panel.
