    Q:
How to replace a shock absorber on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace a Shock Absorber involves lifting the vehicle with proper support of the rear axle until it reaches ride height. First remove upper absorber bolts and proceed to lower absorber nut and bolt before removing the absorber. Place the new absorber unit into its specified position for installation. Place the upper absorber bolts in position then tighten them to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Place the new lower absorber bolt followed by the nut before torquing the nut to 95 n.m (70 lb ft). Afterward drop the vehicle while also removing the rear axle support. Using shock absorbers that match the original length along with strength will prevent suspension over-travel or shock breakage and the consequent component damage.
