    Q:
How to replace the rear door window regulator on a convertible on Chevrolet Cavalier? Posted by Customer
    A:
A convertible owner must start replacement of the rear door Window Regulator by taking out the trim panels and door trim followed by removing the water deflector from the door inner panel. The Power Window Switch must be disconnected first for safety reasons during the express down feature operation. Twist the nuts to achieve enough space for taking out door glass from the regulator then safely secure the glass. Extract the downstop bumper which secures the door frame and eliminate any connection from the Window Regulator. The mechanic should use protective eye equipment when drilling rivets after punching out the center pins before proceeding with thread installation of screws to extract the Window Regulator assembly through the door inner panel access opening. Afterward, clean all debris from under the door. Throughout installation the Window Regulator assembly needs to pass through the access hole and then users should apply loctite(TM) 242 or equivalent to screw threads before screw installation. The repair of the door panel will complete with attaching rivets to place the Window Regulator assembly within the door inner panel as well as reconnecting power Window Regulator wires when present and returning the downstop bumper back to the door frame. Torque the nuts that secure the door window glass to 6 n.m (53 lb in) and check that both the Window Regulator assembly and door window glass operate correctly. Finish the installation by putting back the water deflector along with trim panel and door trim panel.
