    Q:
How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for the side impact on Chevrolet Colorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disabling the SIR system stands as the first requirement before replacing an inflatable restraint side impact sensor. The inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS) requires a secure mounting position before powering up because any jostling could result in SIR deployment or human injury. Access the side impact sensor by first removing the front door trim panel then slowly sliding back the water deflector from behind the door. After disconnecting the electrical connector users need to remove side impact sensor retaining screws from the door before proceeding. Remove the side impact sensor component from its position in the door's structure. Wash the mounting surface free of all impurities and contaminants before aligning the side impact sensor flat across the door and connecting the power connector. Secure the side impact sensor through screws using a torque of 9 N.m (79 lb in). Prior to reattaching the door trim panel ensure that the water deflector is completely seated against the door. Finally, enable the SIR system.
