Mass Air Flow Sensor

When handling the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)/intake air temperature (IAT) sensor for replacement you need to protect both the honeycell at the air inlet endpoint and the sensing elements from contact with any cleaning solvents or lubricants. Start by removing the air cleaner outlet duct then extract the gray connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and detach the maf/iat sensor electrical connector through black clip depression. The maf/iat clamp needs to be loosened while the sensor is removed from the air cleaner assembly. When mounting the maf/iat sensor positioning is important to have the embossed arrow facing the engine before securing it into the air cleaner assembly with maf/iat clamp torque at 7 n.m (62 lb in). Reassign the maf/iat sensor electrical connector before pushing in the gray cpa retainer during the last step of reinstalling the air cleaner outlet duct.

When installing a new Mass Air Flow Sensor along with intake Air Temperature Sensor take extra caution since touching or cleaning the sensory elements with solutions or lubricants might cause harm while also preserving the honeycell structure at the air inlet opening. Start the replacement process by removing the outlet duct of the air cleaner before pulling out the gray connector position assurance retainer and detaching the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor electrical connector by depressing its black clip. The Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat clamp needs loosening before removing the sensor from the air cleaner assembly. The arrow marking on the new Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor should face the engine direction when performing the installation. First connect the sensor to the air cleaner assembly and secure the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat clamp at 7 n.m (62 lb in). Then apply the electrical connector and insert the gray connector position assurance retainer before reinstalling the air cleaner outlet duct.

The first step should be to manage the sensor with caution while also protecting the air inlet honeycell from damage as well as keeping the sensing elements free from contamination by solvents or lubricants; a minimal amount of non-silicone based lubricant can help installation by applying it to the air duct. You should start by removing the intake air resonator and disconnecting the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor electrical connector before loosening the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat clamp to pull out the sensor from its place on the air cleaner assembly. You should install the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor by placing its embossed arrow toward the engine and repositioning it in the air cleaner assembly while torquing the clamp to 7 n.m (62 lb in) before reconnecting the electrical connector and restoring the air intake resonator.

The maf/iat sensor replacement begins by disconnecting the electrical connector followed by air cleaner assembly detachment. First loosen the Mass Air Flow Sensor clamp on the air cleaner duct before eliminating the sensor bolts from the air cleaner assembly to remove the Mass Air Flow Sensor from its position. The direction of airflow should be indicated by the embossed arrow on the Mass Air Flow Sensor which should point toward the engine during its installation process. Remote the Mass Air Flow Sensor into the air cleaner housing before securing it there using retaining bolts that need tightening to 11 n.m (97 lb in). The Mass Air Flow Sensor clamp must be secured to the air cleaner duct and then you must install the air cleaner assembly while also connecting the mass air flow electrical connector. A tiny portion of non-silicone based lubricant should be applied to the air duct but avoid coming into contact with the sensing elements or damaging the honey cell while performing the installation.

The replacement process of the Mass Air Flow Sensor/intake Air Temperature Sensor requires gentle handling of the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor to protect its honeycell area but you need to avoid all contact with cleaning solutions and lubricants near its sensing elements while minimizing lubricant application only on the air duct. You should first disconnect the air cleaner outlet resonator before separating the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor. You should first use a screwdriver to get rid of the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor adapter clamp before taking the sensor off its position on the air cleaner assembly. The Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor must receive placement with its embossed arrow facing toward the engine before installation into the air cleaner assembly and subsequent closure of the adapter clamp using 4 n.m of pressure (35 lb in). Safely install the air cleaner outlet resonator after reattaching the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor.
