    Q:
How to replace the steering wheel on Chevrolet Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
Steering Wheel replacement starts with deactivating the supplemental inflatable restraint system then removing the Steering Column trim covers. The subsequent step requires removal of the inflator module and Steering Wheel nut. The correct application of the j 1859-a puller combined with the j 42120 puller legs requires left leg tab down positioning and right leg tab upward position to stop column binding and damage. After disconnecting the electrical connectors from the column the user must redirect them through the Steering Wheel opening before executing Steering Wheel removal from the vehicle. When installing the Steering Wheel begin by passing electrical connectors through the Steering Wheel opening and connect them to the Steering Column followed by Steering Wheel installation onto the Steering Column. Secure the Steering Wheel nut using a torque of 37 nm (27 ft. Lbs.) to the Steering Column. Your last step is to place back the inflator module and Steering Column trim covers and execute a sir enablement procedure.

    Q:
How to replace the steering wheel on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin Steering Column replacement by disabling the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system before removing Steering Wheel and trim covers. Disconnect all electrical connectors that are attached to the multifunction switch and remove the electrical harness from the Steering Column area. Move on to remove both the sir coil and the driver's insulator panel from the vehicle. Work starts with removing the upper pinch bolt attached to the intermediate shaft. Then proceed to take out lower Steering Column mounting bolts and upper mounting bolts. Steering columns become damage-prone after removal so exercise caution at all times. Avoid dropping it or hammering on the end of the shaft to protect the collapsible design of the component. Install the new Steering Column into the vehicle while first tightening the lower fasteners before moving on to tighten the upper fasteners for safety. Tighten the lower mounting nuts on the Steering Column at 26 nm (19 ft. Lbs.) and upper mounting bolts at the same torque rating. Firmly connect the intermediate shaft's upper pinch bolt using a 22 nm torque (16 ft. Lbs.). Reposition the sir coil then hook up electrical connectors to the multifunction switch while reattaching the electrical harness to the Steering Column. Complete the installation by putting back the trim covers and driver insulator panel along with the Steering Wheel before you enable the sir system.
