Using the fuel sender lock ring wrench (J 45722) alongside other necessary tools you should start the primary Fuel Tank module replacement process. The procedure starts by taking out the secondary Fuel Pump module followed by disconnecting both primary Fuel Pump module and Fuel Tank pressure sensor electrical connectors. The plastic strap must be cut around the Fuel Tank if replacement is necessary. The fuel sender lock ring wrench (J 45722) with a long breaker-bar needs use to counter-clockwise unlock the fuel sender lock ring while carefully lifting the pump module to disengage the orientation tabs before rotating it 45 degrees to prevent float arm bending. Detach the fuel feed and vent lines from the Fuel Tank before pulling out the primary Fuel Pump module assembly which requires discarding the Fuel Pump module-to-tank seal. The removal step for the fuel level sending unit comes during this sequence. You should examine the lock ring for any damage together with checking its warpage level since any warpage larger than 0.41 mm (0.016 in) requires the lock ring to be replaced.
