    Q:
How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Evaporator Tube on Chevrolet Cavalier? Posted by Customer
    A:
A technician must begin by recovering refrigerant followed by removing the hood close out filler panel before starting the replacement process. You should utilize Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) for repositioning the hose clamps before removing the coolant surge tank hoses from their surge tank connection. Start by disconnecting the nut which joins the evaporator tube to the condenser unit before discarding the O-ring seal. The tube needs to be detached from its retention clip at the body side rail before removing the accumulator tube. Use an increment to lift the vehicle before removing the evaporator tube from its mount on the evaporator then discarding the used O-ring seals and finally lowering the vehicle to remove the tube. Start the evaporator tube installation by raising and supporting the vehicle while installing the new tube. Installation requires a connection between the evaporator and tube using new O-ring seals which should be tightened to 24 N.m (18 lb ft). Install the tube into the body side rail retaining clip position (exclusive for 2.4L models). New O-ring seals should be used when attaching the evaporator tube to the condenser before tightening the nut until it reaches 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Reinstall the accumulator tube and the coolant surge tank hoses by fastening the hose clamps with Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185). Complete the procedure by reinstalling the hood close out filler panel followed by evacuation and A/C system charging and Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) testing of component fittings.
